Dept of Laboratory Medicine, National University Hospital
Assistant Professor
Dept of Pathology, NationalUniversity of Singapore
Dr Zhang obtained the Ph. D degree in the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 1998. He then joined the Institute of Molecular Agrobiology, as a Research Officer and then Research Fellow, to work on plant biotechnology, protein engineering and structural biology. In 2002, he joined the Department of Pathology, National University of Singapore, as a Research Scientist, to continue his career development in cancer research. After two years’ training in pathology, he was later offered a permanent position of Scientific Officer in the Department of Laboratory Medicine, NationalUniversityHospital in 2004, to setup his R &D laboratory in clinical proteomics.
Dr Zhang is also an Assistant Professor (Adjunct) in the Department of Pathology and works closely with the pathologists in cancer translational research. His main interests include: biomarker/drug discover in cancer, HER-2/neu signaling and cross-talk, functional study of target genes (e.g. ERp29, hnRNP H1 and cytokeratin 19) in cancer cell invasion, metastasis and drug resistance, and stroma-epithelial cell interaction in tumorigenesis. Clinically, he is interested in the development of service-based diagnostic proteomics technology and high throughput HLA genotyping platform in transfusion medicine.
Dr Zhang has published more than 50 articles including patents, book chapters, conference abstracts and full research papers, which have been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Molecular and Cellular Proteomics, Proteomics, Modern Pathology, and Journal of Biological Chemistry. His work on proteomics and tissue microarrays has been cited by many papers.Other link: http://www.med.nus.edu.sg/path/staff/zhang-daohai.htm
